Deployed reservist, Burke Jensen & his wife purchased a house in a 47 lot subdivision
owned by Chick Edwards, hay farmer. During the year the Jensen's were fixing up
their home, the landscaper hired to install irrigation and landscaping abandoned the
job. Burke Jensen was deployed overseas five months ago & his pregnant wife and
child returned to family on the east coast for the duration of his deployment.
Chick Edwards, owner, self styled (and only member of) the Home Owner's
Assocation is incensed that this reservist is neglecting his landscaping despite the

reservist's call up to duty and his attempts to handle the situation long distance.
Jensen even offered to rent the property out so
it would be taken care of. Edwards in turn threatened legal action.
"I really don't give a (expletive) where he is or what his problem is. It doesn't matter

the property still, so I am the homeowners association. He's not going to rent it.
Edwards was informed regarding the Federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act which
prevents any civil legal action from being taken against someone on active military
duty overseas and that his insistence that Jense cannot legally rent out the property
might be in error.

Later Edwards passed off his comments as "the media blew it out of proportion"

In response, Jensen's co-workers at Energy Northwest, Veteran's organizations and
local businesses donated time, money and material and labor to install the irrigation
system, and landscaping. They've also arranged for the property to be maintained
SALUTE to Burke Jensen for his service & to all of those who volunteered.
